Opening a Bank Account

Opening a Spanish Bank Account

Spanish Banks

Before obtaining residency a non resident’s account can be opened in a Spanish bank with your passport, National Insurance number from your place of origin, proof of income, address and contact details from your place of origin.

Once a resident, the account can be changed and you must accredit your tax status. For example, working, retired etc.

Online accounts are available with no fees charged for the card or maintenance.

Or alternatively, with certain banks, “bonds” can be held to reduce fees or provide you with an account with no charges.
